When specialized AI meets modern decision-making

There’s a new world of productivity where generalized artificial intelligence meets specialized AI, particularly for developers and data scientists.

Specialized AI can help businesses focus on what really matters by determining the confidence level of the model’s decision-making. This allows for automation when the model is highly confident and prompts human intervention when the confidence level is lower, according to Graham Sheldon (pictured) chief product officer of UiPath Inc.

“That means having rules for governance, auditing and monitoring to make sure you know when the data is being used,” Sheldon said. “And then being able to mask, and filter some of the data so that it never gets to those models in the first place if you need to … So combining the best of generalized and specialized AI for these brand new scenarios to help developers be more productive.”

Sheldon spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Rebecca Knight and Dave Vellante at the UiPath FORWARD event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed enhancing AI capabilities and expanding the customer base in order to increase automation and optimize processes across various industries. (* Disclosure below.)

Taking a system view

Optimizing one part of a system without considering the impact on other parts can create bottlenecks, according to Sheldon. He further explained that it is important to take a system view and use AI to predict and make decisions for maximum optimization. Such an approach could potentially create larger total addressable markets, thanks to automation and AI, as it involves understanding systems and applying applicable techniques.

“We’re very excited about being able to do things like simulation, decision making, and using the intelligence of AI to help you figure out not just where a local optima is going to be, but where a maximum global optima is likely to be,” said Sheldon.
